Zinc Bolt On Hull Anodes
The hull is arguably the most important part of your vessel, so it's vital you keep it protected with sufficient anodes. Hull anodes are specifically used to protect the hull of your boat from corrosion by reacting to electrolysis and corroding themselves, instead of your hull - hence the term 'sacrificial'.
Zinc anodes are heavier than aluminium anodes, although zinc anodes tend to corrode more evenly and completely than aluminium anodes, which erode unevenly with visible craters. In addition, zinc is a far less reactive metal than magnesium, which is why magnesium anodes cannot be used in the same (salt) waters that zinc anodes can.
Unlike zinc weld on anodes, zinc bolt-on anodes do not require specialist tools to secure them to your hull, although it is highly recommended that you use the best-quality anode fixing bolts when bolting on hull anodes.
