Magnesium Bolt On Hull Anodes
The role of a sacrificial hull anode is to protect the hull of your boat from corrosion by reacting to electrolysis and corroding itself, instead of your hull - this is where the term 'sacrificial' comes from.
Magnesium is a far more reactive metal than aluminium and zinc, which is why magnesium anodes are only recommended for fresh water, where there is a lower open circuit potential.
Unlike magnesium weld on anodes, magnesium bolt-on anodes do not require specialist tools to secure them to your hull, although it is highly recommended that you use the best-quality anode fixing bolts when bolting on hull anodes.
